On September 30th, the Woodland Chamber Singers will embark on their first European tour. Since last Summer several members have been preparing music under the direction Lenore Turner Heinson for a concert they will perform in Salzburg Austria, and Florence, Venice, and Rome Italy.

Their tour begins in Salzburg Austria, the birthplace of Mozart. The group will spend 3 days taking in the sights and sounds of the city that made “The Sound of Music”. Their performance in Salzburg will be held at the beautiful Christuskirche, Hallstatt on October 3rd. As the group moves through the Italian countryside they will arrive in Venice. The floating city will be enjoyed by the group as they venture about its narrow passages and boat ways. Sailing upon the Grand Canal and under the Rialto bridge, the choir can bask in the splendor of this center of old European trade. The Chamber Singers are delighted to be performing on October 5th at the Sant Maria Dei Miracoli. The group will then continue their journey to Florence Italy, where they will behold the magnificent sculpture of David by Michelangelo, the Ponte Vecchio, the Piazza Della Signoria, and of course the Florence Cathedral. The choral performance in Florence will be held on October 7th at the majestic San Gaetano Church. The final stop for the Woodland Chamber Singers is Rome. Home to the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica, The Colosseum, and the Pantheon, Rome promises to be an indulgence of Ancient Roman culture. The last tour performance will be held on October 9th at the 17th Century Sant Agnese in Agone.

This is sure to be a wonderful experience for The Woodland Chamber Singers as they take their gift of song abroad to other nations.

Please join our choir in a proper Bon Voyage, where WCS will present to you the music they will be sharing overseas. The Bon Voyage concert will be held at the Woodland Presbyterian Church, 1324 Columbia Dr.  On Sat Sept 22nd at 7pm.
